Drones are small flying robots that can be deployed by Hunters if the Cogmind flees far enough and the Hunters lose the trail. The drones will explore the area and if they come across the Cogmind they will send off a signal back to the Hunters, alerting them. This signal can be blocked with a Transmission Jammer of some form. Drones' tiny, flying nature makes shooting them down incredibly difficult as they enjoy a natural -40% on attacks against them. Drones employ no weapons of their own, fortunately.

Drones can also be created if the Cogmind finds a Drone Bay. Simply equip the part, activate it, and wait two turns to deploy them. The Drone Bay can then be abandoned but it is possible to recall the Drones back into it if Cogmind keeps it. While inside they undergo repairs. The most common use of Drones is to set them to explore, as the Cogmind shares vision with them. It is helpful to stagger the explore orders so that both Drones do not chart the same course.
