Game loaded with 0 core integrity
« on: June 11, 2015, 05:28:02 AM »

I was in the mines area, got the game over screen and I pressed esc to quit.  Next time I opened the game it loaded me at the point where I had previously died, with 0 core integrity.  I was able to continue on until the next hit ended the game again.  I haven't been able to reproduce the bug.  This is alpha 1b

Hm, that's weird. Something tells me this might get reported more than once now. I did make several changes to the save system to make it compatible with remembering your specific part slots between level transfers and saves, and no one reported this happening in Alpha 1, so...

If there's a serious problem in here we'll have an Alpha 1c hot fix really quick. I'll do some quick tests tonight and see if I can come up with anything. Thanks!

I have the exact same problem. Upon dying and quitting and returning (the same process) everything works fine.

Thanks for reporting it. I was just looking at this today and couldn't figure it out because it doesn't happen to me. I'm going to need more information to solve this one. I did change up some of the game saving code between Alpha 1 and 1b, so it must have something to do with that, but whatever's causing it isn't obvious, or certain.

For the next release I've added an error message in the code that will write a warning to the log when the game is saving the player despite having 0 integrity, but that doesn't help us diagnose the issue here and now.

Does this happen every time you die? Or only under certain circumstances that you might be able to discern? Is it always after you've continued from a saved game? Or from a fresh start all the way to death without saving and resuming first?

I have reproduced the bug.  I died in the mines, and when I reload the game I have 0 core integrity.  This time the problem is repeating, I load, get killed instantly, quit, then load again at the same spot, happened 3 or 4 times in a row.  I will leave the game for the time being incase you want a save uploaded or whatever.

Okay thanks. If you can attach the save.bin here for me here that'd be great. (Or you could email it to me if that's easier, since the file can sometimes be a little large.) It didn't repeat for me for some reason so this will help track it down much more quickly!

Oh okay that's a pretty small one :D. Thanks, I'll have that fixed for next time.

Two would be nice for cross-comparison, though honestly I believe this will be easy to solve, and zill's should be repeatable so that's okay. (I should've gotten to this already, but I'm a day behind on my dev schedule because I shifted a work day to next Saturday.) Thanks!

Resolved this one today. It was a case of the catch-all auto-save feature re-saving the game even after your save file was already deleted on death. Many thanks for the save file, as that combined with the steps made this much easier to quickly get to the heart of the problem (though it still took about an hour because I followed what I thought was a bug down the wrong rabbit hole at first :P)
