Unsure what Thermal Generator does

Small question (also, not sure if there is a better place to post little questions), but I can't figure out what the Thermal Generator does.  Does it only kick on at a certain heat level? is there a max amount of heat it will dissipate a turn? Does it work if energy is full?

Trying out a heat dissipation, thermal gun build atm, but the thermal generator is a wild card (and a heavy one), which I'm not sure how to factor in.

Thx

All utilities work as per their effect description shown when you open it, so as stated those will give you energy for any remaining heat each turn (the listed generation ratio is based on its tier). Thermal generators aren't heat sinks--they don't dissipate anything (yes this would be more logical but that's not the way these work, it's just a simple mechanic). Regarding their effect, it's pretty useless if you're at or around full energy since you can never store more energy than you have capacity for.

Thermal Generators aren't useful for most builds, and I'm pretty sure they're only rarely used in very special cases. They may or may not get adjusted or even removed when we do a review of the utilities one day.

(Most people asking quick questions these days just do it on the Discord, though whatever's convenient for you!)

Cool, thanks.  It's description says it generates energy *from* surplus heat, so I assumed it converted too.

Kyzrati

Yeah that would be a possible assumption there... I'll change it to "based on"!

Nice.  I would also humbly recommend removing the "surplus" wording, saying "current heat level" or "current stored heat" or something.

Kyzrati

Well "surplus" in this case is referring to whatever's remaining after dissipation, whereas current heat level doesn't make it as clear. Overall more words would help, though I'm trying to avoid being wordy with descriptions so that people actually read them xD. We'll see how this item changes later, because there's a good chance it will.
