What made you laugh in the game?

Finding you can get launchers and hover units in the scrapyard has me laughing over here tonight.

I just saw a patrolling sentry. I don't think I've ever seen one patrolling before, but this is the second time he's looped around. It is a bit funny to see :)

Valguris

Corruption misdirected me into a researcher. Ramming damage instantly destroyed him and I escaped without getting scanned.

Laughed a lot about this story from Reddit (spoiler):

Spoiler
Hi r/cogmind! Bought the game on steam about three weeks ago and already racked up almost 60 hours. No wins yet, haven't even survived past -3, but having a blast.
not sure how to hide spoilers, but I suspect everyone who's going to read this is already familiar with what I'm about "reveal":
found the dataminer a while ago and learned about trojan hacks, didn't really play with it much until yesterday when I tried the one for garrisons. erm... so out pops an ARC, yay! We head into the garrison together, and I think you see where this is going. First robot we come across, I take a shot, the robot takes a shot, the ARC unloads 4 more robots that are hostile to me... hilarity ensued.
So, bug? Working as intended? Am I really meant to somehow lose the ARC following me around like a puppy before it can disgorge its cargo of hostile murderbots right on top of me? I mean, I can think of some niche methods of taking advantage of the situation (all high-risk, low-reward. So meh really), but I was rather expecting the hack to be more useful at the outset.

Late game spoilers:

Spoiler

I really mean it:

Spoiler

I found the Complex's reaction once a certain Exoskeleton is activated absolutely hilarious, and "Synergy Achieved" too. The short remaining part of the game from there was tons of fun. (I never feel like I have a strong enough build to go on to Command.)

And another that doesn't involve any branches, only Access:
Spoiler

Having two angry behemoths come around a corner at me told me I had found the exit. :) :) :) I ran around to the other side, past a garrison, and apparently they decided to go around the opposite way and met me there too.

I believe your pursuers simply didn't lose track of you in that time; full spots grant them knowledge of your current position for some time (lowered by ECM Suites).  It's a known tactic for flight stealth builds using Sentry-guarded fabricators to avoid getting shot in the process by leading the Sentry in a merry dance around the fabricator, watching them clearly have exact knowledge of your position (from the way they immediately use the fastest path to LOS) despite not having seen you through many direction changes and trips around the fabricator.  Fabricator dancing can itself be pretty funny. :)

A short dialogue while I was showing one of my friends around Materials:

"They're shooting at you?  What did you ever do to them?"
"Nothing, but the central AI that programmed them ordered them to kill me on contact, so that's what they're trying to do."

And not long thereafter, when I had used the doorway tactic on a Grunt patrol and happened to shoot the guns and legs off the Grunt in the doorway:

"Are you going to kill it for salvage?"
"Yes, but first I'm going to use it as a barrier while I loot this room to restock."

Poor Grunt had to watch me pick up more armor and guns...

I just spawned inside the outpost room next to the ARCs in the prox caves. Funny rare occurence or funny bug? I've never spawned so close to the exit in Prox Caves before.

Kyzrati

The entrance can sometimes be closer to the exit in that layout. It wasn't intended in the original design, but when I discovered it I thought it was funny, too, so I left it that way rather than blocking it.

Plus, I brought friends from Zion with me... and was greeted with a message about derelicts invading... "Who cares?" Perfect emergent behavior. :)

Kyzrati

Love it when those happen! Would be really nice to put even more comments in, though then the likelihood of odd clashes increases.

Cannons have to be the funniest part of the game when a friend is with you.
"Hi there, I'm gonna be your Cogmind for today."

Recently in Testing (quite spoilery):

Spoiler

So I ran by this garrison thinking about shutting it down, decided to go with Reprogram tho.
I moved two spaces away: "ALERT Rogue bot located" and those buddies did ofc spawn out of the garrison, so I went back, reprogrammed.
1 turn later one the new allies stepped on an alarm trap, so I went back, reprogrammed.
Couple of turns later a patrol joined the fray, calling for reinforcements instantly, so I went back, reprogrammed.
At this point I started to wonder if I am ever going to leave here.

I did, running down the hallway to Sector 7, enjoying the extra distraction for Fortress.
It ended up not shooting me at all, so I started attacking, as this was probably my best chance to kill it without taking any damage and SURE you'd have to get an achievement for that, right?
Got really good core hits in when suddenly: "Fortress rebooting. P-80 Hacker assimilated robot"...
I really wanted that achievement I don't even know exists though, so I kept attacking
Once it fell -> Achievement: Collateral Damage (Lose 1000 points to friendly fire)...

Running around Factory, I looted a Hauler with EM weapons. Then a Recycler showed up, started grabbing parts and I shot it once to shoo it away, and disrupted it. Then a Serf grabbed the disabled Recycler and started dragging it away (with my parts!). The game is determined not to let me have those parts... :)

R-26 Lightspeed

It was in -9 Materials, and i think there was an reinforcement squad coming my way. I was very low on core integrity, and as i defeated the last grunt of the squad i was fighting, i thought something along the lines of "Ok, as long as i find an exit quickly without enemies in the way, and don't encounter the reinforcement squad along the way, i'll be fine, provided the machine behind me wasn't destabilized and explodes". *fusion modulator begins exploding*

I remember laughing quite a bit.

One of the things i thought made things funnier was that the game over screen instantly cuts your vision of the world. (i don't know any other game that does that.)

Kyzrati

Hehe, yeah exploding machines, in particular when destabilized so the ultimate effect is delayed, offer a lot of fun suspense and interesting moments.

Yeah it's probably quite rare, and for good reason since in most games players will really want to be able to see in its entirety the final state when they lost.

Some people have wanted this in Cogmind, too, but I've insisted on keeping it as is, in keeping with the whole simulationist/POV atmosphere. The scoresheet records have all that info, and more, after all!

Look at this perfectly timed Sapper arrival, right when about to loot a Hauler xD (garrison was compromised by this, too, triggering an assault haha)
