Situation: I open up a scanalyzer, and realize I really want to make sure I have the blueprint for a part that I currently have equipped. I've scanned some things already but I don't have any idea if that was one of them.

Currently I have to actually unequip the item and wave it at the scanalyzer, or go scroll through the list of items and manually search, to figure out if I have it or not. This seems a little silly.

So two thoughts there: Some kind of marker in the right click menu for items if you have the blueprint. I'm thinking just a little purple square or something that looks like a data chip next to the name, tells you 'blueprint found' if you mouse over it.

Second thought: when using a scanalyzer show these next to all the scanned things you have in your equip screen for quick reference.

At the same time, I'd like to equip each item at least once for the gallery, so if I come across a random item that doesn't fancy my playstyle, but it's not in my gallery and the area is safe and quiet, I'd like to try it on for the collection. But determining if I've already done that is an even more arduous task, as far as I can tell.

Yep, all these things should be added (just not requested yet since no one was ever  seriously using Scanalyzersbefore Alpha 9, or really trying to boost their collection records :P). I'll find a solution for all of them, thanks!

Okay, did this stuff today. There's a new option that when active shows whether the item has been added to your gallery yet, on both the item info itself (at the bottom) and the on-map item label (appearing as a '!' after the item name if you haven't attached one before).

As for the schematics, there's no need for an indicator in the right-click list itself, since that list already excludes all inventory items for which you have schematics. To solve the other issue of not being sure which of your attached parts you already have schematics for, which otherwise requires either detaching parts and reconnecting or comparing against your complete schematics list, I looked at several solutions.

In the end I settled on the least intrusive option, which was to simply add a new indicator while in info visualization mode ('q'), showing a '+' in front of any part for which you have a schematic, so you have easy access to that info any time you want.

One of the more intrusive possibilities was to have special indicators appear while connected to a Scanalyzer/Terminal--a mockup:

Overkill! (And takes focus away from the hacking terminal windows, which would be less of an issue if it were just the Scanalyzer, but ideally--and arguably even more usefully--this info also needs to be available from regular terminals in case you want to indirect-hack for schematics. In this case something more subtle like the '+' is better)
