Using mouse for melee attack
« on: July 03, 2018, 11:59:09 PM »

Hi, new player here. I'm playing mostly with the mouse. However, I seem to be unable to use the mouse for melee combat. When I have both a ranged and a melee weapon (say a datajack and a rifle) then when I move into an NPC using the mouse it will always try to use the ranged weapon. Is there a way to differentiate between ranged and melee when using the mouse?

Welcome! If you want to attack an adjacent enemy purely with the mouse you'll have to turn off your ranged weapons first. It only attacks with what you have activated, so you can always control what fires/attacks that way (which is important! it's not always a good idea to fire everything you have even when using multiple projectile weapons).

Thanks! I guess I have to learn to be more subtle with the use of my weapons. I now usually just switch everything on, but that is not the way I guess :)

Heh, yeah I've seen a lot of new players just always firing everything. Often times it's a good idea, to take advantage of the time savings and make it more likely you'll take out targets, but there are a fair number of cases you'll want to tone it down depending on other factors! (though in your particular situation here it's more of a UI limitation :P)
