Though if we take it that far then it means targeting your allies will also appear green. (Or would you want that to be red as a warning?)

Orange/yellow?

Ahah! That's pretty funny.

Turns out it was the 'Mac key chords for special characters' option on my Mac-keyboard-emulator-in-Windows app. It was injecting movement key symbols when I pressed alt-5+.

Pressing 'a' and allowing you to specify a replacement target could be part of the final solution set. That's even an easy thing I could tack on to the current system. It just keeps building on itself :D

What if all the items the player chose to replace were recorded and over time the AI learnt smart replacement?  ;D

Sure. You design the heuristic and test it so that it accurately predicts it for all playstyles and Kyzrati will put it in.

Thought I was doing a weekly seed but I forgot to enter the damn thing. Oh well. Original post below.

Noooooot bad!

Weird behaviour/bugs:

I realized why I didn't know that Alt-# dropped things, because in the vikeys setup alt-number row moves the map for some reason. Also, many times I tried to fire my guns & the 'closest armed' heuristic didn't see a Scout or ARCs - but maybe they're not armed? but surely it should fall through to Closest Hostile in that case?

It happened here, but it says 'cannot target self' because I was double-tapping by default and I guess I was the closest armed robot to me.

(Highly recommend this album for Cogmind runs, btw.)

Cool. Lots to discover in this game. It's a fun feeling.

I continue to be impressed by how on-the-ball you are! Last time I encountered this bug I assumed I'd just fatfingered alt-f4 or something, since you make pretty active use of all the modifier keys in keyboard mode.

I do have a weird setup in that I just upgraded my GPU and RAM but have an old processor chipset & motherboard - I recently found out I can't run After Effects, for example, and IDEs are chugging more now that I've started doing C++ dev. Timing sounds like a likely contributor as a result.

Anyway, glad I could help, even indirectly.

@karlnp : When you say caves, do you mean mines? Typically, if you see a bunch of med matter storage units and mining lasers around the staircase, then you can safely assume that the staircase will take you to mines. Also, you drop stuff from your inventory by press Alt + (inventory id). So, if you want to drop the first inventory item, press Alt + 1. I don't think you can drop the parts that are attached you directly. I am not sure, though.
Huh, I could swear that I'd tried that.

Oh, perhaps I meant mines, but I meant where branches appear in general - aside from garrisons, which I think are red, is there any way to tell if it's a branch or a main area behind a staircase?  I'm assuming not.

Crash Log
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Playing in ASCII Keyboard mode while listening to music in VLC.

It happened while I was juking and trying to survive facing 2 Y-Defenders in a small, maybe 5x5 room. They were shooting me, I had just picked up a Heavy EM Pulse gun and used it for a couple rounds before it got shot off. Then I tried to equip a weapon using Ctrl-3 (I think it was a Particle Gun) and immediately crashed to desktop.

Doesn't look like the most useful stack trace, but I figured I'd post it anyway. Have fun!

Here's my CFG if it helps.

Whoof. Finally got a decent run with my score >50. Had to self-destruct because I ran into two Y-type units surrounded by pests, and they took away all my parts. Is there any way to tell where a given exit will go in the Caves? I'd never run into Assembled before and that seems interesting/weird.

I made some decent progress on my roguelike engine, so I'll try this again before the next seed goes up.

Yeah, certainly. I might try this seed again while waiting for Clion to fix itself.

Yeah, it was more out of desperation rather than a real attempt - but it was disheartening nonetheless, as it feels like it should function as a last-ditch gambit or backstab and I'm not sure where its place is in the playstyle spectrum currently. It seems like it should be a 'controller' or pet player tool, or an applicator for debuffs (and indeed rebooting was very useful and kept me alive a few turns longer than it would have otherwise.)

But it's also an alpha, so I'm hesitant to speculate too much.

And we should all be using the tt BBCode to format our scores so nicely like you :P

Yeah, I'm a trendsetter.

I had actually just read your/Decker's conversation about using propulsion as armor/not armor, so when I couldn't source enough hover units or legs, I added whatever else I had around to serve as impromptu armor. I had a couple Improved Mass Distribution modules which made that a much more doable strategy. I don't think it'll remain long-term viable, as much as Decker is apparently the wunderkind of Cogmind - the power drain was significant to start rearing its head around 9/8 in small amounts, even with early Improved Heatsinks.

eugh. got surrounded really early by mercenaries - maybe stepped on an alarm trap or something that I didn't notice.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Tried to use the pile of Datajacks to hack some robots, but I had a really low percentage... I suppose the idea is to find hacking ware and then hack garrison units (or what have you), but the percentages are so low I don't know how it's doable. I did just start playing yesterday, though.

Misremembered this week's seed as this one. Still my best s/core yet.
