Well,
this time I didn't forget to input the seed while streaming, though it turned out to be my worst stream run (https://www.twitch.tv/videos/128529861) ever xD
Died on -6! The cause was very clearly me not being careful enough in dangerous situations because I felt way too confident having backup from Zion :P
I did
almost make it out of the area that brought me down, in pretty epic fashion, too, but it was a bad location in general and some other nearby patrols finished me off just when I was rebuilding with my 11 core... so close! (of course, then I'd still have to find the exit, heh)
A Behemoth was the centerpiece for my downfall :) (I had a chance to melt it but didn't take it...)
This was another unstable evolution run, and I had a little more power than I'd normally want, and somewhat less weaponry, but overall not too bad a distribution for that depth. (Note that unstable evolution does not affect the seed content itself, so it was the same layout.)

And because that run ended a lot more quickly than it normally would, I had more stream time so I decided to do another non-seed run (last 48 minutes of video). For that one I turned off the unstable challenge and played relatively fast, going for maximum weapons--first two evolutions were both weapons so I had 6 slots in Materials :)
Ended with 8 weapon slots, and died while fooling around in a Factory garrison. There is definitely some really nice gear and potential in garrisons, so I'll need to do that more often (more carefully, of course).
Funny thing is, in that short run there was so much destruction I even out-scored my longer seed run!

Today, I did the
double-challenge run for this seed, using Unstable Evolution and Scavenger. Here's what I think of them so far:
The scavenger mode makes it a pretty straight-forward run. Since there's little loot, I just take the stairs asap. My build is also overall weaker since most of my parts are from enemy's loots. (e.g. basic lasers and legs) And even when I find a cool gear, it's already badly damaged, so it has limited use. (Now that I think of it, where are all the repair stations??) Thus, my gears got churned pretty quickly, and I need to constantly look for more replacements.
Unfortunately, that's not the worst part. The worst is the Unstable Evolution!
After 4 evolutions, my slots are 5 power, 4 propulsion, 3 utility, 3 weapon. What?? :o
So what ended up happening is that I have a bunch of utilities but I can't use them all! Can't equip heat sink, armor, storage unit, targeting computer, hackware, all at once. :(
(With a storage unit, I effectively have 2 utility slots to use!)
And what can I do with 5 power slots? The only thing I can think of is to use them for force field, but I can't find one! So I essentially use the extra power slots as an alternative shield to absorb damage, but it turns out that I lose them pretty quickly (due to their lack of integrity).
That was unfortunate. I didn't last very long with this messy combat build. I visited a Data Miner and after that, things went downward in the following proximity cave. (Oh I hate that place!) I got caught by a Warden, followed by an army of fighters, and just when I thought I can survive, an ARC came by and deployed grunts and imp at me... :'(

Not a bad score with all those bonus points, though! Just think if you'd also gotten further :D
High power definitely means go for shields, yep (that's always been my plan), but they can be harder to come by. Especially in the early game there aren't very many. I do eventually want to add some new types of shields, actually, and that would enable more strategies that rely on them. Just haven't gotten around to it... (well, we do have the new AOE thermal resist added in A15, which sorta counts, but it's a static energy cost).
It's less likely that unstable evolution will give you lots of power sources, though, so you were somewhat unlucky there. I had a reasonable number in my last two unstable games.
And there are definitely Repair Stations out there, since the modes don't affect that, but they are generally rarer than other machines, and you'll notice this more when you really really want them :P

You need to attach your actual scoresheet for me to add it to the server, since the filename is an important part (not just the contents).

If you get heaps of power sources, definitely go treads and use your power sources as makeshift armour.
