Title: What are you doing with (re)attachment matter?
Post by: Star Weaver on October 27, 2015, 11:53:09 PM
Just a quick lore-behind-the-gameplay question or sommat; I understand using matter to create the interfaces between you and the parts you're equipping, but at first glance it seems like that would only need to be done once per part (presuming said interfaces were left on the device) ... what's actually supposed to be going on here?

It's a pretty abstract concept, to be sure :)

You're essentially fusing parts to both your body and to each other. Detachment is not a completely non-destructive process, so reattachment without further modification is not possible. That and when you reattach it could be connecting in a slightly different way, or location, or integrating with other parts. It's not at all a truly modular and reusable system.

When you learn the nature of what Cogmind really is, this will make a little more sense, too.

You can discover this now. It requires hacking terminal records, the most interesting of which are of course available only later in the game. More information and details will be coming with the rest of the branches and other content.
