The Unknown Artifact lore entry is as follows :
A way to activate this device has yet to be discovered, though its design suggests it can interface with LRCs. When that program is further along the two can be merged to make further progress. Until then no further tests will be conducted as only three were recovered from the Leopard.

The wording suggests it's about Core Reset Matrixes, but it's found on the terminal next to the Quarantine Subatomic Replicator.
It could be intentional (since the entry could make sense for it), but if it isn't, and all players have just been assuming it was for several versions...
I just wanted to check to make sure.

No that's the replicator lore alright. It's been that way since the beginning.
