Non interactive machines, interactive?
« on: July 30, 2019, 02:15:26 PM »

I was looking at the names of some machines and thought they should be interactive!
Like the core extractor should have a place to step in, and any robot that steps in is extracted!
Or the laser drill having a terminal to activate it, and it continually shoots a laser

Sure it's always nice when additional non-interactive machines have uses (those that do are all blue), but there are too many to start giving some of them fluff interaction, because then it needs to be added to all of them. Consistency is an important pillar of design!

Well can some of them just have damage on you if you get to close, like thermal for the mining laser?

Broad static environmental interaction isn't a big theme in Cogmind, again there really would need to be more instances for it to be worthwhile.

I think this is a pretty good idea, i'll brain storm some ideas and make some notes, maybe later on in the development process we can get a "machine extravaganza" update or some such
