And another that doesn't involve any branches, only Access:
Having two angry behemoths come around a corner at me told me I had found the exit.
I ran around to the other side, past a garrison, and apparently they decided to go around the opposite way and met me there too.
I believe your pursuers simply didn't lose track of you in that time; full spots grant them knowledge of your
current position for some time (lowered by ECM Suites). It's a known tactic for flight stealth builds using Sentry-guarded fabricators to avoid getting shot in the process by leading the Sentry in a merry dance around the fabricator, watching them clearly have exact knowledge of your position (from the way they immediately use the fastest path to LOS) despite not having seen you through many direction changes and trips around the fabricator. Fabricator dancing can itself be pretty funny.
A short dialogue while I was showing one of my friends around Materials:
"They're shooting at you? What did you ever do to them?"
"Nothing, but the central AI that programmed them ordered them to kill me on contact, so that's what they're trying to do."
And not long thereafter, when I had used the doorway tactic on a Grunt patrol and happened to shoot the guns and legs off the Grunt in the doorway:
"Are you going to kill it for salvage?"
"Yes, but first I'm going to use it as a barrier while I loot this room to restock."
Poor Grunt had to watch me pick up more armor and guns...
