This week's seed: Guerrilla Warfare

There is more going on than it seems...

The Weekly Seed is open to anyone, and we encourage you to share your experiences, stories, and tactics over the course of your run.

The rules are as follows:
  • The Weekly Seed begins from the date this thread is posted and lasts about seven days.
  • Make sure you are running the correct version of Cogmind (see thread subject).
  • Enter the seed and abort your current game to initiate the seed (more details are below).
  • Verify you are not running the tutorial and that the screenshots below match your game.
  • Play through the game once. This is a friendly event and we are all honest people.
  • When finished, post your scoresheet here (it should be the newest file in /scores) and any other screenshots/stories/strategies you wish to share with the community.
  • If you want to share details about the seed or your approach, make sure you use spoiler tags.
  • Due to the spoilerific nature of this thread, be sure to avoid reading details about the seed if you haven't completed your run.

Press F1 to go to the MENU, select OPTIONS, select Seed, and enter this week's seed:




Select GAME, select ABORT:




If you have followed the steps [Manual seed applied: Guerrilla Warfare] should display in the log window.

Guerrilla Warfare, indeed.

I did combat, as usual, and also managed to sneak by/around some confrontations, but some hairy situations also led to a number of hit and run battles.

This seed felt quite easy throughout the beginning, though there were also a number of bad decisions made along the way after that.

Probably the worst of them was in -3/Research, where I assumed an exit discovered early on lead to a branch, and had derelict logs pointing to actual Research exits really far away, deciding to head for those instead. This was partly because my propulsion at the time didn't feel stable enough to tackle a branch. And yet traveling all that way put me in a worse situation, and before long I looked like this!

I managed to flee back to the original exit and take it, only to discover it led to -2... Oops.

Then in -2 I couldn't for the life of me find Warlord, who was around there somewhere. I transitioned to flight for a while to facilitate the search, but was getting beat up and had to flee to Access in pretty terrible condition, without having rebuilt from the inevitable good loot that I should've been able to find with allied help :'(.

I still could've rebuilt in Access--lots of great stuff lying around, but ran out of power and that was the limiting factor. It was still an epic ending, though, where I gathered up some of the pursuers and triggered an entire array of proton bomb traps on them all. Very effective strategy :D. So much useful loot at that point, but still no energy.

Overall a pretty low score for having reached the final area, because I found all the exits way too quickly on the way up :P

I streamed this run, by the way (thanks to everyone who showed up!) but had to reconnect a few times due to some OBS flickering for whatever reason. The majority of it was in this last VOD. The first 40 minutes or so are on the two videos before that.
