I followed a friend (Z-light) into a chute. He said how glad he was that I came for him, but he does not follow me. He just keeps patrolling?

Ah yeah they should probably follow you again rather than running off on their own! Forgot to assign that behavior on catching up to them (not a lot of people do this ).
