You don't need to go into them or even into caves at all.

As to why they're there: they are outposts of the Complex. Usually they are not worth messing with but they can have marginally useful things inside (rewireable bots, weapons, a terminal). It's possible there are more useful things inside them, I stopped messing with them to find out though.

Kyzrati

They're generally quite dangerous, best avoided if possible! You may not always be able to safely ignore them, however :)

alright now here is the second one, why did they spawn right next to me

Kyzrati

Branches are not guaranteed to be safe on entry, and especially Mines and Caves can be extremely dangerous, so avoid them if you're not ready to deal with threats immediately.

next, why should I bring thugs to the exiles, and what if I bring them to zion instead?

The reward of a job well done? :)

seanawesomness

well i may as well scrap them for parts if they don't do anything ::)
anyways here is the next one. why did BR-AWN come from a room I already explored

Kyzrati

Keep playing, you'll see more local friends who can pretty much appear out of nowhere.

yeah that reminds me of 2 local friends I dont get, i'll do the second one tomorrow though. Now I was being brave and went to the scary-thingy, my mutants ran away to get "reinforcements" and  saw the Z-Imprinter? is this just a doppelganger of the imprinter or is this like the imprinters second life. if I can befriend them just give me a hint :D

seanawesomness

alright found the second one a little bit faster than I thought I would. he was my enemy before, now a friend(also I know that green robots are neutral, blue are my mindless slaves, but I would really like a list of the other colors)

seanawesomness

(sorry for spam) he just turned hostile saying "whaaaa"

It's the Imprinter. (Her dialogue goes with the other Imprinter dialogues in the lore.) I think it says Z-Imprinter instead of Imprinter because her loadout is different from when you saw her before. I don't think you can befriend her after you go to the deep caves. Note that this is quite a difficult location to survive, not to mention completely optional!

Those are the major ones, blue for controllable mindless allies, purple for those who act on their own.

Dark brown are hostile derelicts, brown/gray/white are friendly derelicts. Hot pink are NPCs (which may be friendly or hostile).

You'll never be able to turn a hostile bot friendly (not through plot means, anyway, only through hacking or similar means).

alright, so I found the exile base and opened the secret door, came back after fighting lots of pestering pest(pun intended) and the dirt was replaced by walls... why didn't they call for backup?

Kyzrati

Engineers don't call for backup unless they're attacked. Their job is to build walls, doors, and floors.

yeah but shouldn't the door close again when Cogmind leaves?

Kyzrati

Nah, you can consider it still waiting for you since you're in the area, it's fine.
