How much does Purge Purge?

I used it like 10 times at Alert level 4 and it didn't lower it at all. Just how much do you have to use it?

Alert level 4 is pretty damn high. You must have been one bad robot.

I'm considering making the security level and purge amounts more obvious. I started with an intentionally semi-opaque system. Purge lowers total security value by 200 each time, and Alert Level 4 is anything over 1600. (Right now the threshold for each level is double that of the previous level.)

Overall there's also a need to tweak how threat values are accumulated, but it was necessary to see how you all fare in certain situations before making any meaningful changes. It's a pretty central component for the whole experience. Too low and the entire game would be too easy; too high and the chances of getting roflstomped are pretty high unless you're extremely careful about threat management.

The problem with doing too much tweaking now is that later more branches will be added, and leaving the main complex for a branch is an easy way to lower your threat (by taking a "sideways" detour), so you'll have very significant new options for staying alive.

Thanks for the run down. Once the system is finalized it'll probably be in the manual. I can understand not putting it there beforehand.

They can be printed at a level 1 fabricator for 200 matter. And you get 2 per batch. Have fun.

How far have you gotten with this strategy? What kind of pitfalls do you run into? As cool as it is, I think I prefer to be the Slayer.

I have tried the slayerific approach myself, and I think this (alert levels) might be the standout pitfall, actually. There is no stealth with 9 trigger-happy children running about, as shocking as that may sound.

Okay yeah that explains everything.

Remember that the more of a threat you and your friends become, the more the complex AI will start paying attention to you, so if you have a literal army of friends tearing everything up, naturally they're going to throw a ton of robots at you. At that point the security alert goes up so high that you might not be able to even find enough Terminals to purge that many records.

So all is well in the world. Happy army building :D
