Favorite parts of cogmind is the theme, the lore makes sense so to speak (for example npcs going about their business, not some random goblin and other random monsters all attacking just you). I also prefer no leveling system in roguelikes because otherwise the game just feels too grindy.

I did a combat build and everything was going smoothly until I decided to go to the mines on -9 at a whim. This was a huge mistake and ultimately cost me the game. A bunch of infestation spawned right next to me, but luckily they got distracted by some demolishers. Ran in the opposite direction only to discover I was pinned in the starting area. I waited it out until the sounds of combat died out. Then I slowly began to explore again. Ran into some pests, lost all of my spare parts and had to ram a few of them and barely made it out of the mines. I went from medium storage unit and like 5 extra weapons down to practically nothing. The rest I ran pretty much like a skeleton with one engine and one flight unit, zipping over all the patrols I could (since I had no weapons). Found a staircase but it led to storage. I zipped around a lot looking for the exit, aggroing defender after defender. I was kind of impressed with the huge crowd I managed to get following me, and I utterly got demolished after my last flight unit was destroyed. I knew the risk of the mines but I think I'll be more cautious in future weekly seeds.

Fixed Bugs & Non-Bugs / Re: Crash when entering mines

I checked and my show map intro option is turned to on. Previous crashes in the mines I was just walking through them, but for this one it happened right as i stepped on the staircase. Also I do use the mouse, hope that helps.

Ran into tons of pests right away but eventually manged to defeat them all. Went with a stealthy build since I had so much extra flight units. Then in one pivotal moment I turned a corner at -8 to find six pests and 2 scouts all in the same room! As I tried to escape them I hit a blade trap which made me lose a few extra parts (including all my engines). Was chased away until I found an exit with just some grunts in the way, but by this point I was quite damaged. I died ramming into the grunts as I they were blocking the two square wide corridor.

Summary

Considered skipping the mines this time after some of the failures last week, but in the end decided to take it since I was running into lots of scouts. Nothing memorable in the mines except 2 grunts easily taken care of that spawned by the stairs, and I switched to a faster build after taking care of some pests.
Over -9 I slowly lost this build as I ran into large crowds of enemies around practically every corner.
By -8 I was severely hurting, limping to each exit as soon as I could find it and occasionally tucking into a room with heavy weapons and blasting some iron.
Took some optional branch level 8 and seemed like there was a huge crowd around every corner, tried to outrun them but it was too late.

I did not see the infestation directly, although I recall that a squad was deployed to exterminate them. I did have to fight normal robots though.

Summary

Spoiler
Haven't played in awhile but decided to go with a high attack build since I kept finding really nice powerful weapons, starting with a high powered shotgun and even found some new ones. I went through the mines on the first level, decided to go south and almost died but made it to the next stairs. Overall this was one of those runs where I kept thinking I was being outgunned and miraculously kept making it through fight after fight, and picking on smaller bots to fill the gaps the enemy robots had made. Overall a good run (for me) dying at -6.
