The description states:
QuoteEnables responsive movement to avoid direct attacks
Does anybody know if this applies to just melee or all attacks?
Hmmm... I'm 99% sure it applies to ranged and melee attacks. I'm curious as to what an indirect attack is (caught in an explosion radius maybe?)
Yes, it applies to melee as well. "Indirect" only refers to being caught in an explosion's AOE.
Such an awesome game!
Anyway, wondering if this item is overpowered? It says 6% dodge chance. However, with it installed all enemy hit chance is 10%. Removing it and the same shots are 60-70% to hit.
Makes it a must have item. I also cried when it got destroyed:-)

Glad you're enjoying it! It is a very useful item, but the chance to be hit has a large number of factors playing into it, some that you may not have noticed while comparing the difference. See this post (http://www.gridsagegames.com/forums/index.php?topic=47.0) for more. (Also, specific to thrusters: Notice that if you're flying or hovering the chance is doubled!)

Is there a way I can test without exposing myself to death? I"m doing very well at the moment and don't want to die, but literally every attack is listed as 10% hit chance (on me). During one fire fight with a bunch of bots, I lost the Maneuvering Thrusters and the too hits had jumped from always 10% to 60-70%. Granted I had been staying still and my heat might have been a factor, but hard to image what could cause a 50-60% to hit change.
Mando
Not really since you have to be shot at by weapons to test it =p
If you turn on the F8 Calc menu and use the options to set it to the highest detail, it should show you a breakdown of the hit chance formula as it's calculated. (That window needs to be redone to make it more usable in high-detail mode, since the abbreviations are somewhat esoteric but that was all that could fit at the time.)
Turns out turning on full Calc only shows the math for your shots, not the enemies.
Anyway, I managed to capture a shot mid battle where the Maneuvering Thrusters get destroyed mid volley.
See included screen shot. First enemy KE Pen shot hits (10% chance), destroys the Thrusters, second KE Pen shot in volley hits (73% chance).
QED! :)

Oh yeah... I guess that would make sense since it would be an even more horribly overcrowded scrolling nightmare with everyone's calcs in there.
Okay, you win, thanks for the shot and I will investigate this before the next release! Be warned that if what you've discovered is true, the resulting changes will mean you getting hit more often ;)
Thats alright, everytime I get one, its OP for about 3 minutes, then something one hits it and back to normal.
I survived the battle in the screenshot, but it was close. Ended up with the last Slayer shooting me through the walls while the engineers kept rebuilding them so I couldn't see to shoot back, and all my propulsion was destroyed, so my Move was 8%.

Hehe, and I was just looking at that screenshot and thinking you had such a nice build going! It's tough when you get trapped between Slayers and anything else. Those guys are really annoying. I don't mind taking them on alone when I can focus on dealing with them, but once something else shows up it's a real dilemma since they'll tear you apart while you fight anything else, but they're tough to hit themselves so engaging them first means more time under fire from other robots... I think for this week's seed run I'm going to try to build me some allies. (As usual, that might depend on what I find.)
